Dragon Discovery 3 Day, 2 Night Trip

We are excited to share the details for our 2026 Middle School Dragon Discovery trip. This is one of the most unique aspects of the middle school experience at Flagstaff Academy - and one your student will never forget! We hold this outdoor education at the beginning of the school year to foster community, friendships, and confidence skills building. This year, the trip will take place:

Medication and Medical Forms

Whether your student takes prescribed or over-the-counter medications, such as Advil, Benadryl, Tums, etc., you'll need to have a Medical Administration Permission Form signed by your doctor. Please plan ahead by making doctor's appointments/getting necessary paperwork signed now.

New: Over-the-Counter Medication Standing Order Form

For a specific list of over-the-counter medications, families have the choice of completing a Dragon Discovery Standing Order form so that trained and delegated staff may give the following medications to students. Standing Order forms must also be signed by a physician.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol): 325 and 650 mg doses
Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil): 200 and 400 mg doses
Antacid/Calcium Carbonate
Cetirizine (Zyrtec)
Cough Drop
Dramamine
Pedialyte Electrolyte Powder

NO MEDICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THE DAY OF DEPARTURE

Payments

The cost to attend the Dragon Discovery trip is $250 and includes transportation and all meals. Payments can be made online through the Dragon Discovery Registration Portal. Payments and completed forms are due no later than Friday, Aug. 28.

Help make the Dragon Discovery trip a reality for all our students by donating to the Adam J. Burton Memorial Fund. Donations can be made in the Dragon Discovery Registration Portal as part of the registration process. This fund is used to supplement payments for any family that is unable to afford the trip fee. Any amount is appreciated.

Financial Assistance

We want as many of our middle school students to benefit from this experience. If the cost of the trip is a concern, please complete the Financial Assistance section in the Dragon Discovery Registration Portal. Financial assistance is available for families who qualify for the district's Free and Reduced Benefits program.

Please note: Families must apply for the district's Free and Reduced Education Benefit program AND receive confirmation of benefits from the district PRIOR to completing the Dragon Discovery registration. Failure to follow this process may result in extra payment processing fees.
