About Mr. Sumnicht

 

Mr. Kyle Sumnicht grew up in Wisconsin and has a degree in Art and a secondary endorsement in Religious Studies from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He began teaching in 2002 and worked extensively to develop an art program that allowed students to actively experience history through art while in a classroom setting. In 2013, he received the Spotlight Award from The Education Foundation of the St. Vrain Valley School District. 

 

Now in his seventeenth year at Flagstaff Academy, "Mr. S" has transitioned back to Flagstaff Academy's Elementary Art Teacher. His dedication to student success, advocacy for physical literacy, and ability to teach across multiple platforms have allowed him to continue to inspire. In his spare time, Mr. S is an avid outdoorsman. During the summers he guides canoe trips in Minnesota’s ‘Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness'. He especially enjoys backpacking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
