Flagstaff Academy middle schoolers participated in a Maji Safi Group Water Walk as part of this month's service project. Funds raised will help health care facilities in the Mara Region of Tanzania improve their water, sanitation, and hygiene conditions.
On Tuesday, Flagstaff Academy 5th graders walked to Ollin Farms for a day of fun and science! Students planted veggies, learned about pollinators, investigated soil ecology, classified macro invertebrates found in creek silt, and much more. Thank you Ollin Farms for being a great community partner!

Today Flagstaff Academy first graders released praying mantis nymphs in the greenhouse. Students learned about the mantis egg case, called an ootheca, and that mantis are carnivores that will feast on insects and pests that harm greenhouse crops.
The Flagstaff Academy middle school music program ROCKS! Last night parents were treated to a medley of songs from the middle school choir, and intermediate, advanced, and jazz bands. Advanced band students crushed the Muppet Show Theme Song. Thank you Mr. Kemp for instilling a love of music into our students!
This morning, representatives from the Colorado Association of Middle Level Education presented Flagstaff Academy with their Colorado Trailblazer School to Watch banner. Flagstaff is only one of four Colorado schools to receive this honor, and the only charter school in the state to hold the School to Watch designation.

Three Flagstaff Academy middle school students participated in the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) last week and all three won awards! In addition, Boone Starr, 6th grade science teacher, was awarded the CSEF Teacher of the Year Award and the Doug Steward Memorial Award.
