Flagstaff Academy Pillars of Success
In 2012, Flagstaff Academy established and implemented three pillars as central to the school's purpose and which support its reputation as a leader in our region. The three pillars were: Student Success, Professional Environment and culture, and Financial Sustainability. In 2024, a fourth Governance pillar was added as the result of the best practices benchmarking by the Strategic Plan Committee in late 2023. The common theme found among other successful charter schools is that they broadly included additional areas of strategic focus around Governance, Board of Directors function, and Community Engagement and Impact.
Student Success
Our primary goal is Student Success. This is why we exist. This embodies our customer, our product, and our promise. This new Strategic Plan will clearly define the measures of Student Success and the metrics by which we will monitor our progress. The academic, social, and emotional health and success of our students is our primary purpose.
Professional Environment and Culture
No single factor has a greater impact on student achievement than Quality of Instruction. The hiring, training, development, and evaluation of teachers is the primary goal of academic leadership. Quality teachers, a safe environment, and a positive culture will result in Student Success.
Financial Sustainability
As a publicly-funded charter school, we are stewards of taxpayer dollars and entrusted with using those funds to provide the best educational program possible. In addition to our public operating revenues, we are blessed with the generosity of our parents and community to provide additional funds for special projects that make Flagstaff Academy the best school in our region. Financial sustainability requires a commitment to best practices in finance, accounting and 11 business operations. Doing so supports Student Success and Professional Environment and Culture.
Governance
The Board of Directors represents the interest of the parents who choose Flagstaff Academy for their children, the employees who choose Flagstaff Academy as their workplace, and the citizens whose tax dollars are entrusted to Flagstaff Academy to drive Student Success. Strong board leadership enables strong school leadership. The Board Members strive for continuous improvement in Board process and in execution of Board duties as a foundation for driving continuous improvement in Student Success, Professional Environment and Culture, and Financial Sustainability.
