About Mr. Warwick
My name is Russell (Russ) Warwick. I have more than twenty years of experience serving students, staff, and school communities across Colorado public and charter schools. My professional background includes leadership experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and Human Resources leader, with deep expertise in instructional leadership, school improvement, organizational systems, and leadership development. Throughout my career I have focused on building strong school cultures, supporting effective teaching and learning, and helping organizations grow through clear systems, collaboration, and continuous improvement. I believe great schools balance academic rigor with meaningful relationships, student growth, and a strong sense of community.
I spent 19 years serving within Westminster Public Schools in a variety of leadership roles spanning PreK–8 education, including 11 years as Principal of Westminster Academy for International Studies. During my tenure, I successfully led a significant school turnaround effort, guiding the school from a “Priority Improvement” rating to a “Performance” rating while sustaining excellence over time through strong instructional systems, leadership development, and a consistent focus on student growth and organizational effectiveness.
My leadership work has included the development of innovative academic programming, expansion of student opportunities, implementation of instructional improvement initiatives, and the creation of systems designed to strengthen coaching, evaluation, accountability, and organizational effectiveness. I am particularly passionate about helping schools create environments where both students and staff can thrive.
In addition to my instructional leadership experience, I have significant experience in organizational leadership and human resources systems development. My work has included designing staff evaluation systems, building onboarding and offboarding processes, supporting employment law compliance, leading investigations, and helping leadership teams establish sustainable operational structures that support healthy school culture and long-term organizational success.
I have received multiple professional honors related to school improvement, student growth, instructional systems, and leadership excellence. In addition to my professional experience, I am currently completing doctoral research in Educational Leadership with a focus on leadership and organizational change. My work explores how schools can remain both effective and deeply human in an increasingly complex educational landscape.
