About Mrs. Benz

My name is Mrs. Benz and I’m thrilled to be teaching first grade this year. With 16 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work with students of all ages and abilities, from first grade to fifth grade. I’ve spent 3 years in first grade, 6 years as a Gifted and Talented teacher, 6 years teaching fifth grade, and 1 year in fourth grade, so I’m truly passionate about fostering a love of learning in every student.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Special Education Gifted and Talented. Throughout my career, I’ve always believed that every child has unique strengths and abilities, and it’s my job to help them discover and develop those talents in a supportive, nurturing environment. I’m particularly passionate about making learning engaging, hands-on, and full of wonder — kind of like my teaching hero, Miss Frizzle! I aspire to bring that same adventurous spirit and creativity to my classroom, making lessons an exciting opportunity for discovery.

When I am not teaching, you can catch me with my nose in a book or cruising with Royal Caribbean, where I spend most of my day on the Flowrider.  Whether I’m reading a novel or enjoying the thrill of the waves, I love embracing adventure both in and out of the classroom.
