Flagstaff Academy's first "Launch" Leadership Staff development class finished up a successful year of monthly meetings with a community service day at the OUR Center of Longmont. Two groups helped to "Stamp Out Hunger," as part of the 26th annual national food drive, an outgrowth of the National Association of Letter Carrier's tradition of community service. The effort collects more than 11 million pounds of food in ONE Day, from Alaska to Florida, Colorado to California, hard-working letter carriers do double duty on Food Drive Day - delivering mail and picking up donations. To date, the food drive has surpassed the one billion pound mark in total food collected over its history.
"Our Launch! leadership class was designed to develop the leaders within Flagstaff Academy to provide greater service to our staff and students," says Wayne Granger, Executive Director. "I strongly feel that true leadership starts with servant leadership and by giving back to our community we show our students the importance of compassion and generosity through public service. Flagstaff Academy has a long-standing partnership with the OUR Center and we are happy to have been able to help with the Stamp Out Hunger program.
