5th-grade classes will be working with Spanish 1B and 2 students to run the service-learning project, the Pulsera Project, in April. They will be creating the material to explain what is going on to the school, families, and community starting at the beginning of the month. (A pulsera is a hand-woven bracelet made in Nicaragua. All proceeds will go back to the Pulsera Project to be used to provide housing funds, healthcare, and education for the families of the artisans who make the bracelets.) We will set up the "market" to sell pulseras in the Middle breezeway. As sales are collected, we will have charts showing what the money is providing and be able to celebrate as we go through the sale.
At the end of the sale, students will create a report to share out on what they were able to achieve by selling the Pulseras for 2 weeks.
