Flagstaff Academy Program Overview
Flagstaff Academy is a K–8 public charter school with a mission to provide a science-focused, liberal arts curriculum that promotes excellence, teamwork, respect and a lifelong love of learning. Throughout the educational continuum, Flagstaff Academy will provide an integrated and challenging curriculum based upon the Core Knowledge curricular sequence. The elementary and middle school programs have been developed to progressively build each student’s foundation of knowledge and to prepare the students for success at the next level.

Ability Grouping
A key feature of our school is the use of ability grouping in which students at the same levels are grouped together to meet high expectations and achieve a sense of success within the classroom. We provide ability grouping in the areas of literacy and math and students are grouped according to their level in each of these areas separately. The goal is to provide focus on the individual learner and to group students according to subject mastery rather than grade classification or age. Ongoing assessment is provided to ensure students are appropriately grouped.
