Middle School students have 4 minutes of passing between each period. Students are allowed three tardy warnings per period, per year. When a student is tardy a fourth, fifth, or sixth time to a particular class, he or she will receive a minor infraction. When a student is tardy a seventh time to a particular class, he or she will receive a major infraction. If the tardy violations continue to occur beyond a seventh tardy in a particular class, a tardy plan will be written in collaboration with parents and administration. Blue tardy passes will be given to all middle school teachers to use exclusively for students held late in your class. If a student arrives without a blue pass and states they were held up by another teacher, please check with the other teacher.
Process:
1. Teacher: Mark student with 'A' if the student is not present
2. Teacher: If student comes in late and ...
a). has a pass, change the A to P and put a comment in regarding number of minutes late if you wish
b). does not have a pass, change the A to T with a comment on number of minutes late
3. Front Office: Will print an attendance report every afternoon indicating total tardies to date.
4. Front Office: Every child with 4 or more tardies will be highlighted.
5. Front Office: Will put the report in the Dean of School Culture's mail box for review.
6. Dean of School Culture: Will write a Minor or Major Infraction according to the number of tardies.
7. Dean of School Culture: Will track the history of infractions written.
