Drive Line Procedure and Map

Read all about the NEW driveline procedure for 2010/2011 school year

Announcement from June 1st email from Andrew Moore

As you know, we are currently involved in litigation related to Drive Line.  We feel good about all we have done to remedy the initial problems we faced, and in the words of a City Traffic Engineer who compared us to other area schools' drive lines, 'Flagstaff has moved from below average to above average over the course of the year'.  However, there are still ways for us to improve walker safety and traffic reduction in afternoon Drive Line.

To structure this transition, we will use a series of Drive Line EBlasts, which contain simple steps for families to complete. In the Eblasts, we will

  • Provide you with carpool options from your neighborhood, through RideArrangers.
  • Send you a form to determine whether or not you will be Ridesharing and with who.
  • Provide Rideshare families information on Drive Line Tag modifications.
  • Send all families an additional overview document clarifying the Drive Line process for Walkers, Rideshare families and single family Drive Line participants.

We hope that in the spirit of partnership, our community will support and comply with the strategic development of our Drive Line.

Drive Line Plan from June 2nd email from Andrew Moore

To reduce traffic and improve safety, we are moving forward with the following:

  • Bringing in two cross-walks, which will be staffed by trained crossing guards
  • Securing parking solutions for parent volunteers and parents of walkers
  • Developing Rideshare incentives for families who carpool 3 or more days/week

Rideshare Incentive:

The bulk of new plan revoles around embedding incentives for multi-family carpooling (Rideshare). Stated plainly, we want to get as many cars and students off campus during the first wave of Drive Line as possible. By releasing Rideshare families first, we believe we can load more than 60% of our population in the first 10 minutes.

School will still end at 3:30pm. However, only Rideshare families who carpool 3 or more days per week will have a 3:30pm pickup time. consequently, only Rideshare families will also be able park in the cue starting at 3:00pm each day. Single family Drive Line parents will have a 3:40p.m. pickup time.

Although this sounds complex, in actuality, the process will look very similar to this year's flow pattern.  The three major changes will include a safe route for Walkers, a designated pickup window (either 3:30 p.m. or 3:40 p.m.), and additional parking options.

Each family is automatically enrolled in the Rideshare program. To Opt Out of Rideshare, or to request more information, click here.

Note:

New Flagstaff families: you have already had the opportunity to indicate your wishes at registration. This Eblast is for informational purposes only.
Existing Flagstaff Families: your pre-established Rideshare arrangements will be addressed with a later survey.

RideShare sign up form from June 25 email from Andrew Moore

You should have recently received information about neighborhood carpool options from RideArrangers. Please us this information to make carpooling arrangements.

Next, we need to determine how many of our families will be carpooling (RideShare) and with whom. It does not matter whether you have found your carpooling partners through RideArrangers, previous friendships, or neighboorhood proximity, we just need to know which families are carpooling and with whom.

Every family, even walkers/bikers, MUST fill out this form.

We will compile this data and turn it into time-slot groupings. Families who RideShare will have pickup priority. This form will be open through the end of July. We will send you a reminder before closing the form. Thank you and have a great summer!
