About Mr. Hunter Hamilton

I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended college at the University of Memphis.  I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2009, as well as a middle school licensure. I also have a special education endorsement. This will be my fifth year at Flagstaff Academy and eighth year in education, altogether.

I spent 2 years working with the Bowie Reading and Learning Center - a special needs/alternative school in Memphis - before moving to Colorado in 2011.  The two years at Bowie provided a great deal of exposure to subject areas in pre-kindergarten up through high school.  Once in Colorado, I worked with a Montessori program for a short time before becoming a substitute teacher in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Shortly after, I began working at Flagstaff Academy. I see education as a unique process that, while tied together by common themes and goals for success, allows the individual students to be appreciated for their own strengths as well as guided along a path to recognize their strengths and weaknesses.  In doing this, students develop their own idea of what makes a healthy community and, in turn, find ways to contribute to making it stronger.  Education begins at home, flourishes in the classroom, and continues to evolve for a lifetime.

Outside of school, I may be found somewhere in the mountains, riding bikes, on the river, cooking food, or playing music. By my side, my beloved canine, Mogli. And we can’t forget my lovebirds, Fawkes and Falcor. They’ll be making a few appearances throughout the year!
