Flagstaff Academy: TECH Wave of the Future

Flagstaff Academy has been featured in the Longmont Times-Call 2016 Back-to-School article "TECH: the wave of the future." Flagstaff Academy has been a leader in technology-focused education since it began and our approach keeps growing with the times. This year alone, we've added an Innovations Teacher, who will be teaching a variety of computer science, programming, and other technology skills to K-8 grade students; all of our classrooms now have 70" interactive touch screen monitors for enhanced technology-focused teaching; we will also have SMART Tables, interactive learning centers in our K-2 grades, LMC, and Elementary Tech Lab.

As new apps become available, students will be able to share their Chromebook screens wirelessly with the class and collaborate with their classmates through technology. We also know that our innovative staff will find even more ways to leverage these amazing tools to make the Flagstaff Academy experience one-of-a-kind. This nearly $300,000 investment is possible due to the savings from our bond refinance in June.

Summer might be here, but that doesn't mean we don't have great news to share! We proud to announce that Flagstaff Academy has been named the top school in Colorado in the Can Manufacturers Institute National Aluminum Can Recyling Challenge! Flagstaff Academy recycled 3237 pounds of aluminum cans, topping the Colorado Leader Board in the challenge. Flagstaff students recycled 3.82 pounds of aluminum cans per student and will be awarded a check in the amount of $1,000 by the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), the organization which sponsors the yearly challenge. The money will be used toward continuing to support the school's sustainability and Earth Day programs in the coming year. We're so proud of our Dragons, who show every day how much they care!
